Childminding lets you work for yourself
Childminders are a vital part of early years education and childcare provision. Self-employed and home-based, if you’re looking to work in early years and childcare but need flexibility, childminding is a great option. You can choose your own hours, care for children of different ages at the same time and build your business in a way that works for you.
Becoming a childminder
To become a childminder and look after children – from birth to school age – in your own home, you’ll need to register with Ofsted or a childminding agency.

Childminders can take on more children by employing an assistant. Assistants can only be left alone with children for up to two hours and they must hold a Paediatric First Aid Certificate.
